Dear HNHS families
If there is one question teachers are asked more than any other, it has to be, "How do you cope being surrounded by teenagers all day?" Last night's school ball provided as good an answer as any. It was a pleasure to be part of an event of this scale where, without exception, everyone behaved impeccably.
As always, my litmus test is speaking to the security guards at the end of the evening and once again they were glowing with praise about how respectful, appreciative and good-spirited everyone was throughout the night. Its easy to take that for granted at HNHS but my thanks to all of our students for the way they conducted themselves.
Organising an event for 470 people is no mean feat, but our School Services Committee led by Naisa Sahariar and Silvia Johnston did a magnificent job.
Our school ball is a charity event, with a portion of the proceeds from each ticket donated to a charitable organisation. This year, a donation of approximately $2,000 will be made to Hospice New Zealand.
