Georgia Hulls was the star of the school team that took part in the ECNISS athletic championships on an overcast day at the Hastings Sports Park. She won four titles: the 100m, 200m and 400m, and broke the ECNISS record in the 100m, despite running into a cold southerly. After the competition, Georgia was awarded the female athlete of the meet. Georgia teamed up with Jacqui Beauchamp, Monique Thomson and Sophia Peterson in winning the senior girls 4x100 relay.
Along with the relay, Monique Thomson also won the senior high jump, while Jenna Tidswell won both the senior 800m and 1500m. HNHS students won two pole vault titles, one by Zoe Baker (intermediate) and the other by Yana Chaplow (junior). Libby Charlton comfortably won the junior girls 300m and Liam O’Reilly leapt to victory in the intermediate boys triple jump, with a distance which would have won the senior grade as well.
All in all, a very successful day, with Havelock North High School students winning eleven titles, eight second placings and seventeen third placings.
