Weightlifting bronze for Annah McPherson

Year 13 student, Annah McPherson, won a weightlifting Bronze medal at the recent Oceana Olympic Competition in Suva, Fiji.  Annah's New Zealand coach wanted her to take a conservative approach to her lifts as she was carrying a shoulder injury.   Consequently she only performed 80% of what she was capable of, which means she can look forward to a great future in the sport.  This was only Annah's second weightlifting competition and first international Olympic weightlifting chamionship.  Her next goal is to compete in the North Island Championships to be held in the Bay of Plenty.  One of the New Zealand coaches will be assisting her with her programme.

Well done, Annah!
