The Splinters win Smokefree Rockquest Regional Finals


On Saturday night, our HNHS band, The Splinters, won first place at the Rockquest Hawke's Bay regional final with an outstanding performance.  The band members, William Bush (guitar), Reef Bridges (bass and vocal), Fletcher Cooper (guitar), Anthony Thompson (drums) and Gus Klingender (vocals), also received the ZM Best Song Award, and Gus Klingender won the APRA Lyric Award.

The band now has about three weeks to record a three-song set and submit it to be considered for selection as one of the top 10 national finalists playing live on September 20th.  

Congratulations to all our HNHS bands on their amazing performances.

1st place Band  - The Splinters 

3rd place Band  - Donkey 

1st place Solo-Duo  - Sydney Grant-Smith and Tori Halstead 

2nd place Solo-Duo  - Alexis Ormond and Imogen Gilbert

Smokefree Best Vocals Award - Ethan White of Donkey 

ZM Best Song Award - The Splinters 

APRA Lyric Award - Gus Klingender
