Canoe slalom is a timed event where competitors navigate a white-water course by passing through a combination of upstream and downstream gates

Sixteen schools across the nation descended on the Tarawera River in Kawerau to compete for medals in individual and school events at the 2022 NZ Secondary School Championships.  Schools as far north as Auckland and as far south as Alexandra made the journey to the central North Island.
