Edible Creations 2020

The 2020 Edible Fashion Awards took place on Friday, November 13th at the Hawke’s Bay Arts & Events Centre. This unique Hawke’s Bay event features a fashion parade with a difference: designs constructed using only food, food by-products and packaging. The awards have grown significantly over the past few years, now attracting more than 200 entries. Havelock North High School was well represented and yet again scooped major awards.
The ‘Tremains’ Senior Designer Award was won by Year 12 student Yana Chaplow. Her garment ‘La Vie en Rose’ was also runner-up to the Supreme Designer of the Year. Yana had created a low cut v-neck top made from layered, dyed and dehydrated radishes. The layered skirt is made from delicate dried gurnard wings.

Year 12 student Eleanor Squires won the ‘Essence magazine’ Top Model Award, modelling the Supreme Award-winning garment, ‘The Delicate Drift’. Year 11 student Hannah Estcourt received the ‘Keep Hastings Beautiful’ Award modelling her design, ‘Citris Tea on the Go’. A layered ensemble made from dehydrated orange segments and leaves. Year 9 student Vaya Chaplow won the ‘Unio Goldsmith & Gallery’ Senior Jewellery and Accessory Award. Her entry was a Taiki Tai headpiece, shoes and handbag. Vaya was also the second runner-up in the senior design category.

Congratulations to all girls on their incredible designs.
