The school wishes to congratulate Deputy Principal, Mrs Maria Neville-Foster, on her appointment as Principal of Sacred Heart College, Napier.  Maria will take up her new position in term one next year.
Maria has worked at Havelock North High School for 11½ years. She was initially appointed as a science/chemistry teacher, but quickly progressed into the Senior Management Team and following a period of maternity leave was appointed to the position of Deputy Principal. An extremely hard worker, Maria has thrived in her role and driven a number of initiatives within the school. One of her key responsibilities has been in the area of pastoral care and in this role she has gained the absolute confidence of the students. As a leader of Te Waka Awhina, Maria has been instrumental in the establishment of the Matariki Celebrations and the focus on the achievement of our priority learners.  
In addition to her industry, her skills and her commitment to her colleagues and students, the rich Irish lilt that graces the airwaves around the campus will be missed by us all. Maria will certainly be a loss to Havelock North High School, but we can feel proud that we have contributed in some small way to her development.
On behalf of our wider school community I would like to wish her every success in her new role at Sacred Heart College.
