Good performance by Georgia Hulls at IAAF World U-20 Championships

Georgia Hulls, Havelock North High School’s elite runner, was a member of the Athletics New Zealand team which has just returned from the IAAF World Under-20 Championships in Poland.  The team left New Zealand on 2nd July and competed in two meetings in Germany on their way to the athlete’s village.  Georgia ran in the 100m, 200m and 4 x 100m relay in Germany, winning all of her races.
At the World Championships, Georgia ran in the 200m, qualifying for her semi-final, which placed her as the 20th fastest under-20-year-old 200m athlete in the world.  There were over 1800 athletes from 155 countries competing over the six days of the World Championships.  All the world’s best athletes were there, so this placing is a remarkable feat for a 16-year-old, who will still be eligible for the next world under-20 championships in 2018.  Congratulations, Georgia!
