
The National Secondary School Fencing Championships took place at Mount Albert Grammar School in Auckland over the weekend. A group of students from HNHS travelled to Auckland to compete with the Hawke's Bay Blades Fencing Club. During the competition, Amelia Cain (Year 9), Niamh Horsfall (Year 12), and Jenna Baker (Year 13) won the gold medal for the women's sabre team and the bronze for the women's foil team event. In the women's sabre individual event, Niamh also won the bronze, and Jenna finished fifth.
Additionally, in the men's sabre competition, Aiden Hanham (Year 9) claimed a gold medal, competing alongside students from St. John's College and Karamu High School.
