There are five official Year 13 student committees - School Services, Cultural, Academic, Community Services and Sports. Members of these committees are selected based on the strength of the application that they submit at the beginning of the year.

Several other committees operate within the school which provide leadership opportunities to students of all year levels.  These include the Havelock North High School Council and SADD Committee.

School Services Committee

Role:
  • To organise and manage the school ball. This includes attending weekly meetings, dealing with the venue, organising tickets, decorations, sound, lighting, photographs, security, set-up, clean-up, gifts, funding, liaison with staff, parents and visitors, and a range of other matters.
  • To assist on school occasions e.g. the school open night.
  • To organise the Leavers’ Dinner.
  • To represent the school at events e.g. Haumoana Market Day
  • Other possible initiatives initiated by the committee and / or staff e.g. peer tutoring.

Cultural Committee

Role:

  • Organise the annual school Talent Quest
  • Arrange regular performances on the 'Cultural Corner' stage in the quadrangle
  • Organise the annual 'Havestock' concert
  • Support any cultural activities taking place around the school by acting as ambassadors and organisers
  • Assisting in the organisation of the 'Super Six Cultural Exchange'

 

Academic Committee

Role:

  • Organise the Academic Assemblies
  • Write regular articles for the school newsletter
  • Endorse all initiatives that develop the academic spirit within the student body
  • Liase with departments about upcoming academic events

Community Services Committee

Role:

  • Organise and facilitate the school mufti days
  • Distribute funds raised to various charities
  • Sponsor children to attend local events
  • Assist local organisations to fund raise e.g. Guide Dog Appeal and Blind Foundation Week

Sports Committee

Role:

  • Organise and front the annual Sports Dinner
  • Coordinate the annual series of staff vs students sports challenges
  • Coordinate the inter-form sports challenges
  • Assist in the inter-school sporting exchanges
  • Continue to develop new initiatives that raise the profile of sport within the school and in the wider community
