House Tutors

The House Tutors at Havelock North High School provide pastoral care for the students in their house. They work closely with the Form Tutors who are the primary source of pastoral care for students during their time at school.

The House Tutors form an integral part of the Guidance Committee which meets weekly to discuss students of concern. Their responsibilities include:

• ensuring a positive, constructive learning environment is maintained in every class and for every student
• developing sound work habits in students and modifying detrimental patterns of behaviour
• monitoring student attendance
• liaising with parent and caregivers
• developing an appropriate pathway for students including their transition to university, technical institutes or the workforce
