Havelock North High School made a play for the national mixed team title in 2009, represented by Robert Creffier, Jordan Hinton, Katharine Hall and Sophie Addis.  The team lost the match against Wanganui Collegiate for a place in the four-team national finals.

What drought?  Rain was the only winner in the 2009 term one competition in a succession of soggy Tuesdays.

The school individual championship will be held later this year.
