Sport and Culture

Havelock North High School has an enviable reputation nationally in the performing arts. Drama and music can be studied at all levels in the school curriculum and there is keen competition to participate in the many co-curricular opportunities offered. The proud tradition of choral music performance is exemplified by the five choirs that operate, enabling students to participate in choral music for the sheer enjoyment or to work towards levels of choral excellence.

Sport at Havelock North High School is guided by two key principles – breadth of opportunity and quality of performance.

Thirty-three sports are played in the school. Over 65% of our students participate in sports teams. 116 teams play in regular weekly competitions and wellover 600 students represent the school each year in various sports. This involvement in sport is in addition to comprehensive sport and fitness education in which all students participate in their physical education classes.
