There are excellent facilities which include a large gymnasium complex, expansive playing fields, an all weather hockey turf, tennis and netball courts and a swimming pool.

Expert coaching and efficient team management by teachers and members of the community, provide our students with sound skills and sportsmanship.

Our top teams compete at the top levels locally and nationally. Last year 43 students represented Hawke’s Bay or the Central Region in thirteen sports. Three teams won national titles. Nine students won individual national titles and ten students represented New Zealand in various sports.

The school takes part in six sports exchanges with other secondary schools in the Central and Southern North Island. These exchanges enable both junior and senior school teams to visit other schools and compete in a wide range of summer and winter codes.

Fair play and sportsmanship are emphasised and promoted at all levels. Fair play awards are regularly given to teams and individuals who exemplify qualities of good sportsmanship.
