Softball

Teacher in charge:  Mrs Johnson

Playing season:  Terms 1 and 4.  Trials at beginning of year.

Days and times played:  Mondays after school (boys and girls);  Saturdays for Boys' B Grade.  Games at Akina Park in Hastings.

Practices:  boys train on Thursdays (3.30pm - 5pm at school).  Attending training is essential as we often have a squad of 12-14 players, with only 9 able to start as players in competition games.

Playing fee:  $40

Additional events/tournaments:  We have a softball inter-school exchange with Tawa College each year.  We have not attended any North Island tournaments in the last five years.

Gear supplied:  balls, bases, uniform, bats, some protective equipment.  Students supply own glove, socks and shoes.

Extra information:  We currently have a senior boys' team in the A Grade section of the Secondary Schools' League.  It's the top competitive grade.
