Alice  “But then, shall I never get any older than I am now? That'll be a comfort, one way -- never to be an old woman -- but then -- always to have lessons to learn!”

Havelock North High School

Carol Rimmer, HOD of Technology at HNHS said her aim was "to provide individual students with the opportunity to achieve to their highest abilities, effectively communicate knowledge and skills and be adaptable to different contexts and environments through engagement in technology education.  Specifically in Technology (fabrics) I aim to develop student confidence and skills to be able to problem solve by innovative thinking and daring to be different. Students are encouraged to look at historical and contemporaray fashion to inspire their thinking. Students wishing to be fashion designers are well served by the Technology and Art subjects in our school."

In 2010 a selection of our Year 13 students will be showing their garments for the first time at the Alice in Wonderland Fashion Parade.

Michael Pattison

Michael Pattinson

A HNHS old boy, Michael Pattisson has gone on to success in the fashion industry both in NZ and aboard.

Michael will be showing pieces from his new range, Trix and Dandy - now available at Hunt & Seek. Created in response to the economy, Trix & Dandy is targeted at the youth market, or those young at heart. The collection maintains the quality and design features Pattison is known for, revised, and offered at a price that’s far from criminal. With a wicked retro flair and some kinda slick, chic, easy, Trix & Dandy garments are sophisticated, fun, and colourful.

“When you’re planning a night of high rolling or just keen to indulge in a little harmless debauchery, if you’re dressed in Trix & Dandy you’re sure to be feelin lucky”.

Michael is currently busy gearing up to take his Trix & Dandy collections to Fashion Exposed Melbourne at the end of August and NZ Fashion Week at the end of September, and of course the Alice in Wonderland Fashion Parade in Hawke's Bay on the 2nd September!

Carol Rimmer, HOD of Technology at HNHS said, "to say Michael Pattison was talented is an understatement. He had an amazing ability to design for the future but in a timeless way. Michael loved to manipulate fabrics and combine the use of fabrics in an innovative way. I always make a point of keeping up to date with his collections. He is successful because he is a hard and determined worker as well as being very intelligent and talented. His designs are classic with 'an edge' and they are beautifully tailored. I may be biased but he absolutely deserves the success he attracts. Michael continues to be an inspriation to my students".
