Careers Centre
The Careers Centre is a place where first steps are taken on the career pathway for students.
The centre is there to assists students, through the expertise of our Careers Advisor and centre staff and the programmes we offer, to prepare every students for tertiary study and/or the world of work.
CAREERS ADVICE
Personalised career advice is available to all students. Many students have no idea which direction they want to take after high school - an appointment with the advisor, Mr Taylor ,can often be a great starting point. Parents are very welcome to attend these appointments.
CAREERS EDUCATION
Careers education is also given to students at the following levels:
Year 9 - During Orientation
- Careers Centre overview of location and services
- Class visit and survey
Year 10 - Class Presentation
- Subject selection for senior school based on career aspirations. Career research resources.
Year 11 - Senior School Survey
- All students from Year 11 onwards complete a survey which is used for diagnosis and evaluation of career needs.
Year 12 - Subject Advice
- For course selection at Year 13

- Options, costs, financing

CAREER RESOURCES
There are many resources available in the Careers Centre: university and polytechnic prospectuses, course flyers, information on different careers, DVD’s, CD’s , web resources relevant to careers, Future Pathways and Gateway information.
ORGANISED EVENTS
Career expos, university/polytechnic visits, work experience days, visits from many tertiary education providers and private companies.
JOBS
Part time, full time jobs vacancies plus cadetships and apprenticeship are all posted on the Careers Centre notice board and advertised in the daily notices.
PARENTS AND CAREGIVERS
Parents/caregivers and are an important partner with the Careers Centre and we welcome their involvement. Discussion at home around future careers and study options is often seen as one of the most important factors in their decision making . Find out about services, programs, events, and resources to help your son/daughter succeed with his/her career plan.
